DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Overview (Summary/Objective):
This position is for a 3 rd Shift Optical Manufacturing Technician in Danbury, CT. We welcome applicants at varying experience levels.
Shift differential is included; hours are 10pm- 6:30am.
Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on mechanical processes according to work instructions.
Read and interpret technical drawings and technical work instructions to aid in machining and processing of optical materials.
Identify and effectively troubleshoot minor process, material, design, or equipment nonconformances.
In concert with engineering and other Manufacturing Technicians, actively monitor process controls and instructions.
Assist in maintaining productivity and efficiency while meeting scheduled delivery dates through internal departmental communication and occasional external reporting.
Reading and understanding Material Safety Data Sheets in handling hazardous chemicals.
Comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
Support Quality Calibration to maintain compliance.
Other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills including usage of email.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to perform problem solving tasks.
Willingness to work in a lab environment.
Mechanically inclined with an aptitude for learning on-the-job
Duties include:
Standing long periods of time (1-2 hours)
Working with chemicals and solvents
Working in an environment requiring temperatures above 70 degrees Fahrenheit
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with optical surfaces preferred.
Strong math aptitude including knowledge of trigonometry and geometry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions, operate tools and/or machinery with hands and arms and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. The employee will use protective equipment to work with chemicals, move between workstations, reach, and replace equipment, and move items weighing up to 25 lbs. Due to contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
